From 1959 to April 1975, the Ministry of Public Security provided over 11,000 cadres and soldiers for the southern battlefield. Thousands of cadres and soldiers bravely sacrificed their lives, endured injuries or were exposed to Agent Orange in the southern battlefields.

Addressing the meeting, President Tran Dai Quang emphasised that the Party, State and people would always keep in mind the great contributions and sacrifices of the heroes, martyrs, wounded soldiers and people to the cause of national liberation and reunification in the past as well as national construction and defence at present.

He affirmed the liaison committee’s activities over the past 20 years has promoted the police force’s heroic tradition that always remains wholeheartedly loyal to the fatherland and people, Party and State, while fulfilling all tasks entrusted by the Party, State and People, and continuing to safeguard the country.

He also hoped that the former revolutionaries would continue to promote their traditions and act as good examples in realising Party and State laws and policies to further contribute to national development and defense.
