At a meeting with the diplomats in Hanoi on November 6, Politburo member Thuong, who is also head of the Central Steering Committee for External Information Service, asked them to thoroughly grasp the Party and State’s guidelines on foreign affairs and external information while acting as a bridge to strengthen the relationships between Vietnam and countries around the world.

He advised that the Vietnamese representative missions should keep updated on the situation of overseas Vietnamese (OV) citizens in the host country, thus promoting their role as official information channels popularising Vietnam’s information to the OVs and international friends.

The diplomats must be stay firm in the fight against false and distorted information, particularly that which relates to the national borders and the country’s sovereignty over its seas and islands, he emphasised.

He also requested for accelerated popularisation of Vietnam’s guidelines and policies through foreign languages, along with the country’s active and positive role in addressing international issues.

He expressed his belief that the heads of Vietnamese overseas missions will successfully realise the tasks assigned to them by the Party, State and people.

Addressing the meeting, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Quoc Dung conveyed his thanks to Politburo member Vo Van Thuong for hosting the meeting, affirming that the heads of Vietnamese overseas missions will keep his words in mind and take on their tasks with full responsibilities.
