Preliminary report on general elections’ outcomes to be submitted to NA Standing Committee

The National Election Council (NEC) will present a preliminary report on the outcomes of the elections of deputies to the 15th National Assembly (NA) and all-level People’s Councils for the 2021-2026 tenure during the 56th meeting of the NA Standing Committee (NASC), according to a press release issued by the NA Office on May 26.

Accordingly, the meeting will take place at the NA Building in Hanoi on May 27 in the presence of Politburo member, NA Chairman and Chairman of the NEC Vuong Dinh Hue, who is expected to deliver an opening speech and preside over the meeting in rotation together with the NA Vice Chairpersons.

In addition to commenting on the NEC’s preliminary report, the NASC is scheduled to consider and give opinions on a number of important issues, as well as contributing ideas to the 2019 State budget balance report, the 2019 State finance report and the Government report on thrift practice and wastefulness prevention in 2020.

* On May 26, the southern province of Binh Phuoc became one of the first localities nationwide to announce the list of 60 deputies elected to the 10th Provincial People’s Council (2021-2026 tenure).

Alongside those working in local Party and State agencies and mass organisations, the elected deputies also include Nguyen Thi Ngoc Minh, director of a local business and member of the Dong Xoai City Entrepreneurs’ Association; Buddhist nun Thich Nu Nhat Khuong, deputy head of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha’s Binh Phuoc chapter; priest Nguyen Minh Chanh, chairman of the Binh Phuoc chapter of the Committee for Solidarity of Vietnamese Catholics; and Nguyen Ngoc Luong, director of the province’s traditional music and dance troupe.

Binh Phuoc reported a high rate of turnout of 99.98% in the May 23 elections, with local voters casting ballots to elect six NA deputies, 60 deputies to the Provincial People’s Council, 354 to the district-level People’s Councils, and 2,769 to the commune-level People’s Councils, according to the provincial Election Committee.
