Anh, who is also Chairman of the municipal People’s Council, thanked the Champasak authorities for their warm welcome to Da Nang officials during the guests’ working visit to southern Laos last month.

In its development process, Da Nang always treasures and wishes to take specific actions to support southern Lao locales for joint development, he affirmed.

In that spirit, Da Nang and Champasak will make joint efforts to realise the content of the memorandum of understanding on the bilateral cooperation plan for 2018-2022, Anh said.

The Da Nang leader wished the Champasak authorities and people greater success in their socio-economic development, affirming that Da Nang would do its utmost to contribute to keeping the special relations between Vietnam and Laos evergreen and everlasting.

Expressing his impression of Da Nang’s vibrant development and modernity, Champasak Governor Bounthong Divixay spoke highly of the cooperation and support programmes the Vietnamese city has offered to his province, particularly in the fields of personnel training, health, social security and urban planning.

The Lao guest wished the Da Nang authorities and people continuous breakthroughs in the time ahead, so that the city would deserve to be a locomotive for socioeconomic development in the Central and Central Highlands regions.

He also expressed his belief that the faithful Vietnam-Laos relations as a whole, and the Da Nang-Champasak ties in particular, will continue to blossom in the future, living up to the expectations of the two Parties and peoples.

Over the years, Da Nang and Champasak have exchanged a number of delegations, particularly in the fields of education and culture. The authorities of the two locales have signed two memoranda of understanding and one working minutes document, which serve as a foundation for bilateral cooperation.

During the 2010-2012 period, Da Nang offered Champasak eleven support projects worth nearly VND7.6 billion (US$334,400), all of which have been implemented.

At present, Da Nang has four companies investing in Laos, with a total investment capital of approximately US$52.3 million. The city exported US$18.7 million worth of goods to Laos in the first nine months of the year.
