Russian Prime Minister begins official visit to Vietnam

Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev began his official visit to Vietnam on November 19 at the invitation of his Vietnamese counterpart Nguyen Xuan Phuc.

The Russian PM is accompanied by his Deputy and Chairman of the Russian Subcommittee of the Russia-Vietnam Intergovernmental Committee for Economic-Commercial and Scientific-Technological Cooperation, Maxim Akimov; Russian Ambassador to Vietnam Konstantin Vasilievich Vnukov; Minister for the Development of the Russian Far East Alexander Kozlov; Minister of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Communications Konstantin Noskov; Governor of the Nenets Autonomous Area Alexander Tsybulsky; among others.

The Russian PM was born on September 14, 1965 in Leningrad. He graduated from the faculty of law at Leningrad State University in 1987. In 1990, he defended his dissertation at Leningrad State University. He holds a PhD in law and is an Associate Professor.

From 1990 to 1999, he taught at Sankt-Peterburg State University. From 1990 to 1995, he worked as an advisor to the Chairman of the Leningrad city Council. In 1999, he was appointed Deputy Chief of Staff of the Russian Government Executive Office, then Deputy Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office. From 2000, he held the position of First Deputy Chief of Staff of the Russian Presidential Executive Office. He then, in sequence, served as Deputy Chairman and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Gazprom.

From October 2003, he was appointed Chief of Staff of the Russian Presidential Executive Office. In January 2005, he became first Deputy Prime Minister. From March 2008 to March 2012, he held the position of President of the Russian Federation. From May 2012 to March 2018, he served as Prime Minister of Russia. In May 2018, he was re-appointed his present position as Prime Minister of Russia.
