Diplomats urged to contribute to enhancing Vietnam’s international status

Pham Minh Chinh, Head of the Party Central Committee (PCC)’s Organisation Commission, has encouraged Vietnamese ambassadors and consul generals to actively contribute to improving Vietnam’s position during the process of international integration.

At a meeting with the Vietnamese diplomats (2017-2020 tenure) in Hanoi on July 7, Politburo member Chinh congratulated them on their appointment, whilst expressing his wish that they would exert more efforts in developing Vietnam’s representative offices overseas into connection bridges serving to strengthen the multifaceted cooperation between Vietnam and other countries.

Briefing the diplomats on the current situation and the tasks of organisation work, Party building and the building of the political system, Chinh asked the ambassadors and consul generals to focus on the effective implementation of the State’s foreign policy, as well as the duties entrusted to them by the Party and State.

In the current context of complicated regional and global developments, ambassadors and consul generals should foster close and proactive collaboration, thus contributing to enhancing their efficiency in providing information, he added.

The Politburo member spoke highly of the linking role played by Vietnam’s representative offices overseas, hailing them as the force to partially support the overseas Vietnamese community in the process of integration into native countries.

He also encouraged the ambassadors and consul generals to effectively fulfill their tasks of facilitating the friendly relations and cooperation between Vietnam and other countries, as well as preserving and promoting national cultural identities.

For their part, the ambassadors and consul generals expressed the honour at their appointment, whilst pledging to successfully fulfill their assigned tasks and live up to the trust from the Party, State and people.
