Thua Thien - Hue urged to take advantage of its potential

The central province of Thua Thien - Hue should pay great attention to taking advantage of its potentials and strengths, particularly in developing tourism into a key sector of the locality.

The statement was made by Politburo member and Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh while working with leaders of Thua Thien - Hue province on August 27.

Speaking at the working session, Deputy PM Binh appreciated the results gained by the province in socio-economic development in the first seven months of this year.

He said that the province should set appropriate policies to attract more strategic investors for sustainable development, in association with environmental protection, ensuring social security, preservation of relic sites and maintaining defence and security.

The Deputy PM asked the locality to continue to review and improve its infrastructure system, while mobilising all available resources for major projects.

It is crucial to develop e-government, simplify administrative procedures and accelerate the implementation of online public services in order to ensure transparency and openness, contributing to improving the business environment and competitiveness, he added.

Deputy PM Binh also stressed the necessity to comprehensively develop all fields as well as care for the local people, particularly ethnic minority groups, revolutionary contributors and poor households.

On the occasion, the Deputy PM visited the Vietnam Buddhist Academy in Hue city, and paid tribute to late Most Venerable Thich Chon Thien, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS)'s Executive Council, as well as visited Hoa Loc Sustainable Forestry Cooperative in Phu Loc district and the provincial centre for monitoring and managing smart urban areas.

He also presented gifts to 100 victims of agent orange/dioxin in the mountainous district of A Luoi in the province.
