Addressing the event, the top legislator briefed the guests on the country’s socio-economic achievements and security and defence situation in 2019.

She noted with pleasure that the NA has adopted innovations in its working sessions and stepped up the application of technology in its general operations.

Parliamentary diplomacy has been promoted, contributing to fostering relations with other countries while lifting Vietnam’s image in the region and the world at large.

Vietnam has participated fully in activities held under the framework of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA), the Asia-Pacific Parliamentary Forum (APPF), and the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), during which it has shown to be an active and responsible member, she stressed.

She emphasised that the outcomes came from the NA staff members and the value support and suggestions from retired NA leaders and officers.

She expressed her hopes to receive more opinions and support from former NA leaders and retired officials of NA-run agencies so that the NA can improve its operation and complete its assigned tasks for 14th tenure.

On the occasion, the NA Office held a celebration for the longevity of former NA deputies, who turned 70, 75, 80, 85, 90 and 95 years old this year.
