The 75 outstanding delegates at the meeting were Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, revolutionary veteran cadres, Heroes of the People’s Armed Forces, Labour Heroes, wounded soldiers, sick soldiers, activists in the resistance movements infected with Agent Orange, and relatives of fallen soldiers.
According to the Party chief, over the past 75 years, the preferential policies targeting laws for martyrs, invalids, families of martyrs, and people with meritorious services to the revolution have been promulgated, revised and supplemented continuously to suit each period of history, in line with the country’s economic and social development.
To date, 9.2 million people who rendered service to the nation have enjoyed preferential policies, he noted.
Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong suggested that localities, agencies, units, as well as each individual with specific actions, with a high sense of responsibility, actively and creatively deploy many practical activities, considering it as a duty, responsibility and sentiment to express deep gratitude to those who have devoted and sacrificed to the cause of national liberation, reunification and protection of the Fatherland.
