At the headquarters of the Lao Embassy in Vienna, Ambassador Vu Le Thai Hoang presented a bouquet of fresh flowers to Lao Ambassador Khampheng Douangthongla and his spouse, as well as all officials and staff of the Lao Embassy. He also conveyed warm congratulations to the Party, State, and people of Laos, emphasising the profound significance of the Lao National Day and the deep gratitude for President Kaysone Phomvihane — an outstanding leader and the founder of the special solidarity relations between the two countries.

Ambassador Vu Le Thai Hoang stressed that celebrations marking the 50th anniversary of Lao National Day and the 105th birth anniversary of President Kaysone Phomvihane coincide with a series of major commemorative events of Viet Nam this year, including the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Viet Nam, the 135th birthday anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh, the 80th National Day and the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification. The ambassador affirmed that the Vietnamese people always follow, share, and take pleasure in the development achievements of Laos and expressed confidence that Laos will continue to attain even greater achievements on its path of development and integration.

For his part, Lao Ambassador to Austria Khampheng Douangthongla expressed his pleasure in receiving the delegation from the Vietnamese Embassy and conveyed sincere gratitude to the Party, State, and people of Viet Nam for their wholehearted support for Laos in its past struggle for national liberation as well as in its efforts to safeguard and build the country at present. He underlined that the special Laos–Viet Nam relationship is an invaluable asset of the two nations which must be forever preserved, nurtured, and developed for future generations.

The two ambassadors affirmed that the regular exchanges and close cooperation between the Lao and Vietnamese representative missions in Austria have contributed to enhancing mutual understanding and strengthening the solidarity among their staff. They also agreed to further promote effective and substantive coordination at international forums and at the United Nations in Vienna, for the interests of the two countries and for peace, stability, and development worldwide.
