In his address at the gala, the State leader highlighted the country’s achievements in 2023 and the contributions of overseas Vietnamese – an inseparable part of the Vietnamese nation.

He said he recently had the opportunity to visit several countries and met the overseas Vietnamese community, where he was moved by their aspiration and will to rise up, as well as their wish to contribute to the motherland’s development.

President Thuong stressed that as Vietnam strives to become a high-income developed nation by 2045, it requires greater national unity, effective mobilisation and use of all resources and tapping into the people’s potential and creativity.

He affirmed that the Party and State always truly wish that the overseas Vietnamese community would achieve greater success and have a stronger legal, economic and political stature in the places where they are living.

The President called on them to visit the country more frequently to witness its changes and join hands in building and protecting the beloved motherland.

He also affirmed that the Party and State are working hard to refine the legal system, further facilitating overseas Vietnamese to visit, do business, cooperate in science and technology, engage in cultural activities in Vietnam and act as a bridge between Vietnam and the world.
