Prime Minister approves plan for central EZ

Nhan Dan Online/VNA - Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has approved a new development plan for the Van Phong Economic Zone in the central province of Khanh Hoa.

Under the plan, the multi-sector and multi-disciplinary zone will cover 70,000ha of land, and 80,000ha of water in Van Ninh district.

The zone will include the International Container Trans-Shipment Terminal, a petrochemical industrial park and a petroleum and oil product trans-shipment terminal, all of which are expected to play a key role in the development of tourism, industry, aquaculture and other industries in the region.

The north and south of Van Phong will be developed, with the construction of the International Container Trans-shipment Terminal, International Port Terminal, logistics services facilities, and an urban tourism project planned for the Hon Gom peninsula and Van Gia town.

The deepwater port, industrial park, urban areas and additional tourism services will be built in the south of Van Phong.

Additionally, Khanh Hoa province has submitted a proposal for the construction of a Special Administrative Economic zone in the north of Van Phong.

Construction of the Van Phong Economic Zone began in 2006 and aims to create an integrated economic area in which the International Container Trans-Shipment Terminal plays a key role.
