If in the past, tea growing in the district was still spontaneous and manual, now, from the orientation of developing raw tea areas, gradually increasing the value of tea products, Hai Ha district has promoted and mobilized people to apply science and technology in all stages, from variety structure, care, to harvesting and processing.

The tea production facility of Le Van Thang in village 6, Quang Long commune is one of many high-quality safe tea production facilities in the commune.

In order to continuously increase the value of tea plants, Thang has learned, boldly invested, and expanded the production line. With support from the locality, Thang has standardized the processes of steaming, rolling, roasting, to produce the highest quality output products.

Fresh young tea buds are picked with the standard of "1 bud, 2 leaves", and are only picked early in the morning, when still covered with dew. After picking, the tea is purchased to factories and processed on the same day, creating high-quality tea products with economic value.

Sharing about his production process, Le Van Thang said: "Our facility purchases and participates in the production of high-quality organic tea, mainly Ngoc Thuy tea and Bac Son tea. This tea variety has a cool, fragrant, delicious and rich flavor, giving higher economic value than old tea varieties. Our care process mainly uses organic fertilizers and microorganisms to enhance the quality value of the product".

Since installing the semi-automatic pumping system, the family has saved more than 50% of daily irrigation water and each year the tea harvest has increased by 1 to 2 crops.

In order to gradually increase the value of local tea products, in the period of 2022-2025, Hai Ha district has implemented a project to restructure the tea industry, applying mechanisms and policies according to Resolution 194/2019/NQ-HDND dated July 30, 2019 of the People's Council of Quang Ninh province to support tea growers in investing in intensive cultivation according to VietGAP; support upgrading and renovating factories and processing lines; assess and grant HACCP certification to processing facilities; transfer intensive cultivation and processing processes of high-quality tea, support the development of new Huong Bac Son tea varieties, which have gradually changed the productivity and appearance of the district's tea areas, thereby increasing the value of tea trees in the area.
