Science and technology programme to develop sustainable northwest

The Hanoi-based Vietnam National University (VNU) urged to continue coordinating with the Northwest Steering Committee in deploying programme ‘Science and Technology for the Sustainable Development of the Northwest Region’.

Politburo Member Nguyen Van Binh, who is the Secretary of Party Central Committee (PCC) and Head of PCC Economic Commission, made the comment at a working session with the VNU on August 23.

Since 2013, VNU has implemented the programme with important objectives. The initial research results of the programme were transferred to 14 provinces in the Northwest region.

At the working session, the leader highly appreciated the initial results that the program has achieved in the period of 2013 to present. Many scientific research results have been applied, contributing to the socio-economic development and people's life in localities in the region.

He also asked for a comprehensive evaluation report on the results of the program in the period of 2013-2018 and plan after 2018, which focuses on the topics, such as regional database development; researches on afforestation, tourism development, researches on plant varieties and animal breeds suitable with the soil and weather conditions of the Northwest.
