NDO - The National Assembly Committee for External Relations and the Vietnam Blockchain Association jointly held a seminar on August 5 to discuss international experience in blockchain development and recommendations for Vietnam.

The event is designed to enhance understanding of blockchain technology to fine-tune the legal system, build mechanisms and create a legal framework for activities related to this technology.

Blockchain has emerged as a key to addressing concerns over the security and privacy of online transactions, amid the explosive development of the digital economy over the past few years.

With its various benefits, many countries worldwide, including Vietnam, have recognised the potential of blockchain and are looking for ways to apply this technology in such fields as finance, banking, transport and healthcare.

In Vietnam, many companies are quick to follow the trend and have built their reputation by providing blockchain application platforms.

Speaking at the seminar, Vice Chairman of the Committee Nguyen Manh Tien said if Vietnam does not want to fall behind other countries in technological development, it is necessary to draw on international experience and have the participation of enterprises in formulating legal documents related to this field.

According to Deputy Director of the National Electronic Authentication Centre Pham Quoc Hoan, an implementation roadmap is needed for sectors at all levels to have the right understanding of the technology.

He added that the Government should introduce a legal framework for blockchain technology and that regulations must come along with developing and applying new technologies.
