Over VND680 million donated to assist child patients

Nhan Dan – A special charity gala night featuring art and music performances, was held at central Thua Thien - Hue province’s Cultural and Information Centre on September 6 to raise fund in support of child cancer patients.

Hue Central Hospital, the Supportive Fund for Cancer Patients-Bright Future Fund, and Vietnam Television Centre in Hue city co-organised the event with the aim of calling for support from the community to ease difficulties for child cancer patients who live in difficult circumstances.

Hue students and doctors joined artists to participate in dancing and music performances bringing lyrics and singing to encourage children in their fight against cancer.

Also at the event, generous donors donated over VND680 million (US$32,000) to help pediatric cancer patients being treated at Hue Central Hospital.

Speaking at the event, Deputy Minister of Health Nguyen Thi Xuyen, who is also President of the Bright Future Fund, said “Let us together share the pain of patients and their families. Every compassionate heart will contribute to help child patients to have a brighter future.”

Deputy Minister Xuyen presented 20 gifts worth VND5 million each to child patients receiving cancer treatment at the Hue Central Hospital.

Earlier, Xuyen also visited and presented 75 gifts from the Bright Future Fund to children at the hospital on the occasion of the Mid-Autumn Festival, which is a major event for Vietnamese children.
