Nguyen also made Vietnam’s only semifinal at Worlds, taking 15th in the 200 IM."

After gaining much success in 2014, Anh Vien continues to be the centre of Vietnam's sports, with a range of achievements marking historical milestone for the country’s swimming.
The highlight of Vien in 2015 is her achievement of winning eight gold medals at SEA Games 28. Significantly, all the medals by the Can Tho native broke the event’s records, the achievement that even the legendary swimmer Joseph Schooling of Singapore cannot do.
Eight gold medals and eight SEA Games records earned Vien over VND1 billion bonus, plus prestige prizes. More importantly, the athlete has officially won three tickets to the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. It is a feat of Vietnam swimming. Also with her extremely impressed achievement at SEA Games 28, Vien was proposed to promote her army officer rank from Captain to Major.
Vien shocked the world arena as she won a bronze and a silver at stage 1 the FINA Swimming World Cup. At stage 2 in Paris, Vien added one silver in 400m Individual Medley.
In early October, she won a bronze in the 800m freestyle at the 6th CISM Military World Games. Two days later, she bagged a gold medal in women’s 200m individual medley and set a new record at the event.
Vien was also storm in the 2015 national swimming tournament, with a record 16 gold medals to help her Ho Chi Minh City team finish first.
Currently, she is leading the poll award for Best female athlete of the National 2015 Victory Cup.
Vien is on training in the US for the Olympic Games and her achievements keep improving. The 1996 born is the only Vietnamese swimmer to win three standards to 2016 Olympics, being considered one of the medal hopes of Vietnam’s sports at the Games next year.
