Vietnam have targeted the gold medal in men’s football for the first time ever at the biennial regional multi-sport event later this month, and Quang Hai – with his key role that has been proved during the last tournaments in over the past two years – will definitely play a major part in Vietnam’s SEA Games campaign in the Philippines.

"All may have known the goal of the team at the upcoming SEA Games. My teammates and I will try our best in each game, one by one. I always try to turn all the pressure into motivation, so I feel the most comfortable to be able to play at my best on the pitch," Hai told reporters as reported by Zing News.

As a key player for both the U22 and senior teams, the 1997-born and his teammates at Vietnam U22s are tasked with the goal of bringing home the first gold medal in men's football for Vietnamese sports.

Prior to the Philippines campaign, Quang Hai will join the Vietnam senior squad under head coach Park Hang-seo to play two qualifiers in the Asian 2022 World Cup qualification, meeting the UAE and Thailand, on November 14 and 19, respectively, both at Hanoi’s My Dinh National Stadium.

Hai said that the two are important matches against strong rivals and the Vietnamese team must prepare their best.

The 22-year-old also affirmed that he is in the best physical condition despite having to play and move a lot from the beginning of the year.

Earlier on Wednesday night, the Hanoi FC player was honoured as the best player of the 2019 V.League 1 during the “V.League Awards 2019” gala night held by the Vietnam Professional Football Company. He was also named in the season's best XI.

Hai also shared about his upcoming plans: "Playing abroad is my dream, but now I want to focus on realising our targets at both the national team and the U22 squad."
