Over the past 60 years, Vietnamese archaeology has made major discoveries associated with various cultural layers. Scientific reports are regularly published every year; numerous new excavation pits have been opened; and thousands of artifacts have been studied and preserved.

For generations, Vietnamese folklore has recounted the tale of the magic crossbow - a miraculous weapon bestowed by the Golden Turtle Deity upon An Duong Vuong to defeat foreign invaders. Recent archaeological discoveries, combined with modern theoretical analysis, are opening a new approach: the magic crossbow may have been a real weapon, reflecting the technological level and strategic thinking of ancient Vietnamese people.
