The opening of the 2026–2027 school year was particularly special as localities across the country simultaneously launched well-equipped and modern multi-level boarding schools for primary and lower-secondary education in border communes.

The 2026–2027 academic year must generate substantive reform from within every school and classroom, involving every teacher, student and the entire education sector, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung said on September 5 at the opening ceremony for the new school year at the Muong Khuong Inter-level Boarding School in Muong Khuong commune, the northern mountainous province of Lao Cai.

In the remote borderland of Lai Chau Province, hundreds of engineers and workers are working around the clock at construction sites, transporting building materials across rugged mountains to build schools for children from ethnic minority communities living along the frontier.

Joining 15 other localities nationwide, An Giang and Nghe An provinces started construction of more inter-level boarding schools in border communes on March 19, underscoring the Party and State’s commitment to expanding educational access and improving human resources development in remote areas.

A grand groundbreaking ceremony for primary and secondary boarding schools in border communes was held on March 19 morning, with Party General Secretary To Lam and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attending at the main venue in Dong Dang commune, the northern mountainous province of Lang Son.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on October 16 attended the ground-breaking ceremony for Tay Giang Boarding and Semi-boarding School for Primary and Secondary Students in the central city of Da Nang's Tay Giang commune which borders Laos.
