Students can read textbooks to learn that artificial intelligence (AI) learns from data, or ask a chatbot a question and receive an answer within seconds. But to truly understand how machines learn, why they can make mistakes, how their results may affect people and what responsibilities humans bear when using technology, students need opportunities to experiment for themselves.
