Viet Nam and the US signed a memorandum of understanding on enhancing cooperation in addressing the legacies of war in Ha Noi on October 31.

Deputy Minister of National Defence Sen. Lt. Gen. Hoang Xuan Chien and Permanent Secretary of the Singaporean Ministry of Defence Chan Heng Kee co-chaired the 16th Viet Nam–Singapore Defence Policy Dialogue in central Da Nang city on October 28.

Vietnamese Deputy Minister of National Defence Sen. Lt. Gen. Hoang Xuan Chien met with Indonesian Vice-Minister of Defense Donny Ermawan Taufanto in Jakarta on September 18, during which the latter agreed on the need to make defence cooperation more substantive, particularly in strengthening ties between the navies, air forces, and coast guards as well as in training.

Multilateralism and practical defence cooperation are indispensable in building a fairer and more rational global security governance system, Vietnamese Minister of National Defence General Phan Van Giang told delegates at the first plenary session of the 12th Beijing Xiangshan Forum on September 18.

Defence cooperation between Viet Nam and Türkiye has been promoted over the past years, with standout progress in such areas as delegation exchanges at all levels, education and training, defence industry and military trade, and UN peacekeeping.

Viet Nam and Türkiye should step up delegation exchanges, particularly at the high level and among ministries, sectors, and localities, while further promoting economic, investment, and trade cooperation in areas where they have strengths and can complement each other, said State President Luong Cuong.

The 10th Strategic Diplomacy-Defence Dialogue between Viet Nam and Australia took place in Canberra on August 5.

Minister of National Defence General Phan Van Giang held talks with his Indonesian counterpart Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin in Ha Noi on July 30 within the framework of the latter’s official visit to Viet Nam from July 29 to 30.

Viet Nam always attaches importance to the consolidation and enhancement of relations with traditional friends, with Bulgaria regarded as a priority partner, said Vietnamese Ambassador to Bulgaria Nguyen Thi Minh Nguyet.

Chief of the General Staff of the Viet Nam People’s Army and Deputy Minister of National Defence Gen. Nguyen Tan Cuong and Chief of Defence Forces of Thailand Gen. Songwit Noonpackdee agreed to deepen their defence cooperation during talks in Ha Noi on July 4.
