Viet Nam and Laos are strengthening defence cooperation, marked by the inauguration and handover of the headquarters of the Lao Border Guard Command at a ceremony held in Vientiane on April 23.

The solidarity between the Vietnamese and Lao armies has been described as “special of the special”, reflecting the depth and uniqueness of bilateral defence ties.

Vietnamese Deputy Minister of National Defence Sen. Lt. Gen. Hoang Xuan Chien met with Indonesian Vice-Minister of Defense Donny Ermawan Taufanto in Jakarta on September 18, during which the latter agreed on the need to make defence cooperation more substantive, particularly in strengthening ties between the navies, air forces, and coast guards as well as in training.

Multilateralism and practical defence cooperation are indispensable in building a fairer and more rational global security governance system, Vietnamese Minister of National Defence General Phan Van Giang told delegates at the first plenary session of the 12th Beijing Xiangshan Forum on September 18.

Defence cooperation between Viet Nam and Türkiye has been promoted over the past years, with standout progress in such areas as delegation exchanges at all levels, education and training, defence industry and military trade, and UN peacekeeping.

Viet Nam and Türkiye should step up delegation exchanges, particularly at the high level and among ministries, sectors, and localities, while further promoting economic, investment, and trade cooperation in areas where they have strengths and can complement each other, said State President Luong Cuong.
