A sudden downpour swept across the venue of the 2026 “Fatherland in Our Hearts” programme in Ho Chi Minh City. The rain soaked military uniforms, blurred the words on speech notes, and washed away makeup. Yet, it failed to dampen the enthusiasm of tens of thousands of people gathered on the night of August 23.
