Vietnamese youth and students in Russia enjoy “Fatherland in Our Hearts” via digital platforms

With support from Nhan Dan Newspaper’s resident office in Russia, participants were able to watch the live broadcast of “Fatherland in Our Hearts”, taking place in Ho Chi Minh City, on a large screen.

Tran Phu Thuan, Vice President and Secretary-General of the Union of Vietnamese Associations in the Russian Federation, said the “Fatherland in Our Hearts” programme had kindled patriotism and national pride, while reminding students to remain grateful to generations of their forebears who sacrificed their lives for the independence of the Fatherland.

For overseas Vietnamese and students studying abroad, he noted, the programme carries even greater significance, as simply hearing songs about the country can evoke a profound longing for their homeland.

“The programme recalls historic victories and silent sacrifices, carrying profound educational significance for students studying abroad. It encourages them to look towards their homeland and recognise their responsibility to the country by studying hard and returning home to contribute to its development,” Thuan said.

Sharing in the vibrant atmosphere of the programme, Nguyen Huu Phuong, a student at Plekhanov Russian University of Economics, said that being far from home and watching an artistic programme that inspires love for the Fatherland made him feel even greater affection and pride for his homeland and country.

Stories of history and culture, and above all a strong sense of national pride, help nurture love for the Fatherland in the heart of every Vietnamese person, wherever they may be in the world.

Bui Viet Cong Nguyen, a student pursuing advanced legal studies, said he felt honoured to join the online viewing of the political-artistic programme while more than 6,000 kilometres away from the Fatherland, yet still able to share in the nation’s proud and historic atmosphere.

“I hope that not only students in Russia, but Vietnamese students studying anywhere in the world, can serve as ambassadors of peace, carrying within them the heart and patriotism of the Vietnamese people,” Nguyen said confidently.

In recent years, the Vietnamese Students’ Association and Youth Union in Russia have consistently taken the lead in activities aimed at strengthening connections within the community and educating young Vietnamese overseas about the nation’s patriotic traditions through practical and meaningful initiatives rich in humanistic values.

The enthusiastic participation of young Vietnamese in the online viewing also demonstrated the appeal of the 2026 political-artistic programme “The Fatherland in Our Hearts”, jointly organised by Nhan Dan Newspaper and the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee.
