[In Pictures] Young people brave heavy rain, burning with love for the homeland

Although a sudden heavy downpour fell right at the start of the “Homeland in our Hearts” programme, more than 40,000 spectators, especially young people, still stood solemnly and sang the entire “Tien Quan Ca” (The Marching Song). That moment affirmed one thing: The homeland is not somewhere far away; the homeland is in the heart of every person.

The heavy rain could not “extinguish” the flame of patriotism.

As soon as the programme officially opened, heavy rain began pouring down on the stage and the entire stand. Yet instead of seeking shelter or hurriedly leaving, tens of thousands of spectators chose to stay.

Without the slightest hesitation, everyone turned towards the flag tower. As the heroic melody of “Tien Quan Ca” rang out, the whole “sea of people” sang together, creating a resounding chorus that drowned out even the sound of the rain. Raindrops mingled with tears of pride on the cheeks of young people.

The solemnity and aspirational eyes of youth under the pouring rain turned the vast open space into a sacred setting, where patriotism shone most brightly.

After the moving moment of the flag-saluting ceremony, the audience continued to burst with energy, immersing themselves in the programme’s vibrant melodies and creating a brilliant, energetic atmosphere.
