In the early days of May, as the golden sunshine of early summer spread across the hillsides, inter-village roads in remote areas of Khanh Hoa, Dak Lak, and Lam Dong provinces, once again became lively with the footsteps of officers, soldiers, youth union members, and volunteers.

In recent days, images of houses in Dak Lak, Gia Lai, Khanh Hoa and other localities being isolated or submerged by floodwaters have caused nationwide concern and sympathy. Alongside the efforts of the entire political system, functional forces have been working day and night to carry out rescue operations, evacuate residents, and provide assistance. All levels, sectors, businesses, charitable organisations and people across the country are united in their support for the flood-hit areas.

Flooding triggered by torrential rains following Storm Matmo has caused extensive damage across northern localities, leaving 18 people dead or missing, hundreds of thousands of homes inundated, and infrastructure severely damaged.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh visited Ha Noi’s Trung Gia and Da Phuc communes on the night of October 9 to oversee flood response and recovery efforts after learning that many areas were heavily inundated as river levels rose.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on October 8 visited the northern province of Thai Nguyen to inspect flood-hit areas, encourage local residents, and direct efforts to overcome the consequences of severe flooding triggered by typhoon Matmo.

A nationwide campaign was launched by the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee on October 3, calling on young people to support residents severely affected by Typhoon Bualoi, or locally known as Storm No. 10.
