Seizing historic opportunity from upper-middle-income milestone

The World Bank’s official recognition of Viet Nam as an upper-middle-income country in 2026 is a historic milestone, affirming the new position of the economy. To move towards the goal of becoming a high-income country by 2045, the economy needs to continue shifting strongly from a growth model based on labour to one based on productivity, science and technology, innovation and improved investment efficiency.
