Viet Nam is seeking to position itself as a new destination for Halal tourism, with the launch of the Viet Nam Halal Tourism Conference 2026 in Nha Trang on July 8.
As the global Halal (Muslim) tourism market continues to expand rapidly, Da Nang is well placed to seize the initiative and engage more deeply in this promising segment.
For Viet Nam’s tourism industry, countries with large Muslim populations constitute a significant emerging market, with a combined population of 2.12 billion. Although this market has only recently been explored, Ha Noi welcomed 650,000 Muslim visitors in 2024 alone, with strong growth prospects. However, cultural, religious, and lifestyle differences present challenges for local tourism businesses.
With an estimated global value of over 200 billion USD per year, Halal tourism – or Muslim-friendly travel – is becoming an increasingly popular trend being actively pursued by many countries around the world, including Viet Nam.
