The conference, jointly organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and the Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee, is held under the theme “Viet Nam – A New Destination of Halal Tourism".

The event brought together around 350 delegates, including government officials, representatives of foreign embassies and tourism authorities, investors and businesses from key Halal markets across South Asia, South-East Asia, the Middle East, Central Asia and Africa, as well as member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Minh Hang said Viet Nam's foreign policy of independence, peace, cooperation and respect for cultural and religious diversity provided a solid foundation for developing Halal tourism. She highlighted the country's political stability, safe environment, rich natural resources, diverse cultural heritage, renowned cuisine and strategic location linking South-East Asia, North-East Asia and the Middle East.

Viet Nam welcomed more than 21 million international visitors in 2025, of whom around 600,000 were Muslim travellers, accounting for nearly 3% of the total. The figure underscores the significant growth potential of the Halal tourism market, Hang said.

She added that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs would continue to leverage economic diplomacy to promote investment, trade and tourism while helping build a comprehensive Halal ecosystem to position Viet Nam as a leading destination for Muslim travellers.

Host province Khanh Hoa was highlighted as well placed to develop the sector thanks to its rich cultural assets, including four UNESCO-recognised heritage sites, five national treasures and three special national relics.

The province also benefits from well-developed transport infrastructure, including Cam Ranh International Airport, a deep-water seaport, expressways and railway links, as well as a wide range of international-standard accommodation.

Khanh Hoa has identified Muslim visitors as a priority market and plans to integrate Halal tourism into its long-term tourism strategy by encouraging businesses to upgrade facilities and diversify products and services to meet Halal standards.
