Viet Nam highly values UNODC’s support for ASEAN and the region and calls on the organisation to continue prioritising capacity-building programmes, technical assistance, and the effective implementation of international legal instruments against transnational crime, Vietnamese Ambassador to Austria Vu Le Thai Hoang has said.

The International Organisation for Migration (IOM) in Viet Nam hosted an event in Ha Noi on February 10 to honour youth-led initiatives aimed at advancing safe migration and curbing human trafficking.

In many human trafficking cases, children are not only direct victims of abuse but also accompany their parents or relatives on perilous journeys of movement and displacement.

Viet Nam welcomes the US's objective assessment of its positive results in combating and preventing human trafficking over the past period, said Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Pham Thu Hang.

The national telephone hotline for the prevention of human trafficking (111) was inaugurated on September 19 by the Ministry of Health in partnership with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Viet Nam.

During the second dialogue, the two sides discussed a range of regional security and transnational organised crime issues, including maritime security, supply chain security, money laundering, and cooperation to combat illegal immigration, narcotics, cybercrimes, wildlife trafficking, human trafficking, and financial crimes.

Recently, in Hue City, the launching ceremony to respond to the “World Day Against Trafficking in Persons” and “National Day on Anti-Trafficking in Persons” took place with the presence of representatives of ministries, branches, unions, and international organisations.
