The Law on Personal Data Protection, passed by the National Assembly on June 26, 2025, clearly stipulates citizens’ fundamental data rights. Having officially come into force on January 1, 2026, the law is regarded as a major milestone in protecting privacy, ensuring data security, and strengthening digital trust in Viet Nam.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has recently signed Decision No.2623/QD-TTg dated November 29, promulgating the Plan for implementing the Law on Personal Data Protection.

Viet Nam is accelerating the development of digital transformation, digital economy, and digital society, while recognising personal data as an important factor in participating in this trend.
