Three pilot models for low-emission rice farming in the 2026 winter-spring season, implemented in Hung Yen, Ninh Binh, and Hai Phong City, are opening up new directions and laying the foundation for restructuring rice production in the Red River Delta region in a green and sustainable manner.

The implementation of the project on one million hectares of high-quality, low-emission specialised rice farming in the Mekong Delta has recently delivered positive results, helping reduce production costs and emissions, as well as the amount of irrigation water, seeds, and fertilisers used, while increasing productivity and farmers’ incomes.

The Department of Agriculture and Environment of Can Tho City is currently implementing various programmes to support farmers and cooperatives in cultivating high-quality, low-emission rice. As a result, the effectiveness of production has improved, bringing both economic and environmental benefits.
