Amid rapidly rising electricity demand, mounting pressure from climate change and increasingly extreme heatwaves, the southern power sector has been implementing a wide range of synchronised measures to ensure stable electricity supply for socio-economic development and people’s daily lives.

Alongside the explosive development of information technology, artificial intelligence (AI) and “green” modes of transport, global demand for electricity is rising rapidly. Ensuring sufficient power supply has become a pivotal task for countries seeking to realise their growth ambitions.

Viet Nam Electricity’s Central Power Corporation (EVNCPC) reported that as of 7 a.m. on October 31, nearly 310,000 customers in four central provinces and cities were still without electricity. Compared with the same time on October 30, nearly 170,000 customers had been reconnected, reflecting great efforts by local power units amid severe flooding.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has directed the Viet Nam Electricity (EVN) to ensure power supply to meet the country’s development demands with double-digit growth set for the coming years.
