Love begins with the simple things. When it comes to love for the seas and islands of the homeland, it may begin with a question raised in class, a page in a book depicting images of Truong Sa (Spartly) and Hoang Sa (Paracel), the first time a student hears stories of maritime patrols, or the moment a student confidently provides the correct answer to a question about the nation’s sovereignty over its seas and islands.

The Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defence held a gala in Ha Noi on August 23 to present awards for the 2025–2026 “I Love My Homeland’s Seas and Islands” Contest. General Phan Van Giang, Politburo Member, Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Commission, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence, attended the event.

The Lunar New Year (Tet) 2026 is approaching. While families across the country busily prepare to welcome spring, at the Naval Port of Region 3, officers and sailors of Ship 628, Squadron 311, Brigade 161, are working urgently to complete preparations for an extended Tet duty mission at sea.

An exhibition entitled ‘Mot Dai Non Song’ (One Strip of Homeland) is taking place from August 15 to September 15 at the Ho Guom Cultural Information Centre in Ha Noi. Beyond viewing photographs and books, the exhibition offers many unique experiences that bring the country’s seas and islands closer to the public.

For many years, Ho Chi Minh City has carried out meaningful initiatives in support of the homeland’s seas and islands. Efforts to care for officers, soldiers, and local residents have contributed to strengthening Viet Nam’s borders and islands.
