In practice, Viet Nam’s experience shows that the smart city model still requires substantial “support” to develop properly, sustainably, and with people at the centre.

The Ministry of Construction and the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Policies and Strategies, in coordination with central ministries, agencies, and development partners, held the Viet Nam Sustainable Urban Development Forum 2025 in Ha Noi on November 5, under the theme “Developing Smart, Sustainable, and Inclusive Cities in Viet Nam”.
