Politburo Resolution No. 26-NQ/TW dated August 22, 2026, on developing Viet Nam’s tourism into a spearhead economic sector in the new era sets the goal of developing Vietnamese tourism into a high-quality, smart, green, creative and culturally distinctive sector with high added value, regional and international competitiveness, and strong spillover effects on other sectors and fields.

Politburo Resolution No. 26-NQ/TW, which seeks to develop Viet Nam’s tourism into a spearhead economic sector in the new era, identifies culture, identity and quality of experience as the foundation and competitive advantage of Vietnamese tourism.

Viet Nam is moving to turn tourism into a spearhead economic sector and a new growth driver for double-digit economic growth, with a shift from volume-based expansion to a quality- and value-driven model, Secretary of the Party Central Committee and Deputy Prime Minister Pham Thi Thanh Tra has said.
