Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has issued Official Dispatch No. 214/CD-TTg, urging localities in the central region to assess storm and flood damage and expedite recovery efforts.

The Vietnamese community in the Czech Republic have raised over 5 billion VND (190,000 USD) to support people affected by recent storms in response to the appeals from the Viet Nam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee and the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese.

Amid the complicated developments of Storm Matmo, Chairman of the Ha Noi People’s Committee Tran Sy Thanh has instructed local wards and communes to concentrate leadership and direction efforts, remain ready to implement response measures; and advised offices and agencies to allow employees to work from home on October 6 in order to limit the number of people travelling outdoors.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, the Deputy Prime Ministers, and staffs of the Government Office and the Government Party Committee’s assistant agencies each donated at least one day’s salary to help residents in areas devastated by recent storms and floods, at a fundraising ceremony hosted by the agencies in Ha Noi on October 3.
