Floods triggered by torrential rains and landslides from November 16 night have battered the central region, leaving at least 14 people dead or missing, according to the Viet Nam Disaster and Dyke Management Authority under the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment.

The package include 58 rescue boats, 1,000 sets of bowls and dishes, 1,000 blankets, 1,000 bedding kits, 55 sets of tents, and a huge amount of canned food. It was transported to Hue on the same day for allocation to flood-stricken communities.

The Ministry of National Defence has issued urgent Official Dispatch No. 6840/CD-BQP dated October 27, ordering all military units to take immediate response measures and recovery efforts following severe flooding in the central region.

Storm Fengshen, the 12th in the East Sea/South China Sea this year, has maintained its intensity and path, and is forecast to trigger torrential rains of 200–400mm and even 500mm from Ha Tinh to Quang Ngai in central Viet Nam, according to National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting.

Deputy Prime Minister Mai Van Chinh along with a working delegation inspected and directed flood response and recovery efforts in the central Nghe An province on the late afternoon of July 23, which has been severely affected by torrential rains and flooding following Typhoon Wipha.
