One of the core directions outlined by Party General Secretary and State President To Lam and reaffirmed in Politburo Resolution No. 71-NQ/TW on breakthroughs in education and training, is to bring about substantive reform in higher education by developing elite universities and centres of excellence. Higher education must take the lead in cultivating high-quality talent, advancing scientific research, and developing strategic technologies.

Three higher education institutions in Vietnam have been listed in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2025 (QS WUR by Subject 2025) for the field of Natural Sciences. The rankings have been recently announced by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), an international education organisation.

A seminar on building partnerships between Vietnam and the US in higher education was organised on April 25 by the US Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City with the participation of representatives from more than 30 Vietnamese higher education institutions.

Two Vietnamese representatives, including Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Hoang Son and Prof. Dr. Nguyen Dinh Duc from Vietnam National University – Hanoi were listed among top 10,000 leading scientists in the world.
