Viet Nam and Uruguay convened the fourth session of their Joint Committee on Economic, Trade and Investment Cooperation in Ha Noi on August 18, agreeing to expand cooperation and unlock new opportunities for bilateral trade and investment.

Le Hoai Trung, Politburo Member and Minister of Foreign Affairs, hosted a reception in Ha Noi on August 17 for Uruguayan Deputy Foreign Minister Valeria Csukasi Cabrera, who was on a working visit to Viet Nam from August 16-18.

At the 33rd National Congress of the Communist Party of Uruguay (PCU), held in Montevideo from December 12–14, the images of President Ho Chi Minh and Viet Nam were printed on the ballots used at the congress.

Nguyen Trong Nghia, Politburo member, Secretary of the Communist Party of Viet Nam (CPV) Central Committee, and Chairman of its Commission for Information, Education and Mass Mobilisation, received a high-ranking delegation of the Communist Party of Uruguay (PCU) and representatives of the Broad Front (FA) of Uruguay in Ha Noi on September 1.

Ambassador Duong Quoc Thanh gave comments on the significance of the official visits to Argentina and Uruguay by National Assembly (NA) Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue and made expectations in the cooperation between Vietnam and these two countries.
