The Viet Nam Red Cross Society (VNRC) has launched the first phase of emergency relief to assist residents in the northern and central provinces of Cao Bang, Thai Nguyen, Lang Son, and Nghe An, which suffered severe damage from Typhoon Matmo, the 11th to form in the East Sea this year.
After just six days since the 65-day fundraising campaign '65 Years of Viet Nam – Cuba Solidarity' was launched on August 13 by the Viet Nam Red Cross Society to support Cuba, more than 1.7 million contributors joined the efforts, raising nearly 339 billion VND (nearly 13 million USD).
