The fight against corruption, wastefulness and negative phenomena must continue to renew its mindset, awareness and methods in order to meet the goals set by the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Viet Nam (CPV), said Le Minh Tri, member of the Party Central Committee and Standing Vice Chairman of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Internal Affairs.

Since the beginning of the year, Party committees and inspection commissions at all levels have disciplined more than 330 Party organisations and 9,600 Party members. The Party Central Committee and its Politburo, Secretariat, and Inspection Commission disciplined 23 officials under Party Central Committee management, including six prosecuted cases.

Party General Secretary To Lam, who is also head of the Central Steering Committee for Prevention and Control of Corruption, Wastefulness and Negative Phenomena, chaired a conference in Ha Noi on December 11 to evaluate the country’s anti-corruption combat throughout the 13th National Party Congress’s term.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has described corruption, wastefulness, and negative phenomena as “internal enemies”, against which the fight is long term, difficult and complex, with prevention as the priority.

During the 13th National Party Congress tenure, Viet Nam’s efforts to prevent and handle corruption, wastefulness, and other negative phenomena have yielded significant results.

Party General Secretary To Lam on July 7 emphasised the need to strengthen inspection, supervision, and auditing to promptly detect, prevent, and handle corruption, wastefulness, and misconduct related to personnel arrangements, as well as public asset use during and after the restructuring of the organisational apparatus and the implementation of the two-tier local administration model.
