In the article, the Ambassador wrote that this year, Egypt's National Day marks the 71st anniversary of the Egyptian Revolution on July 23, 1952 - an historical event that shaped modern Egyptian political history, and one that has also inspired other countries around the world, especially those who are fighting for independence.

The first Egyptian Republic was then established to lead the path of modernisation, development and social justice in Egypt.

Following the spirit of solidarity between the peoples with the common aspiration for independence and development, Egypt and Vietnam established diplomatic relations in 1963. This year, the two countries celebrate their 60th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic relations and the long-standing friendship between the two peoples.

She hailed that in recent years, the friendship between Egypt and Vietnam has shown particular political significance through the historic state visits of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to Vietnam in September 2017 and the late Vietnamese President Tran Dai Quang to Egypt in August 2018.

Egypt and Vietnam will continue to explore together the bright future of their traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation.

These visits have contributed to further promoting bilateral relations in all fields, including politics, economy, the military, parliament and culture, she noted.

Despite the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, economic relations between the two countries continue to develop. Bilateral trade turnover reached nearly 600 million USD last year.

In addition, Egypt and Vietnam have actively resumed the exchange of bilateral visits this year, and the 9th political consultations between the two countries was held successfully in Hanoi in September 2022.

The two countries are closely coordinating to prepare for the upcoming 6th meeting of the Vietnam-Egypt Joint Committee, to arrange more high-level exchange visits in the coming time, and to co-host cultural activities within the framework of the 60th anniversary of bilateral ties.

The Egyptian diplomat noted that cultural relations continue to be a very important pillar in the bilateral relationship between the two countries. A number of joint activities have taken place in recent years, including festivals and cultural events held in both countries.

She noted with pleasure that more and more Vietnamese students choose to study the Arabic language in Egypt, illustrating the increased awareness of the young generation about the friendship between the two peoples, and contributing to strengthening the cultural link between the two countries.

Egypt hosted the 27th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP27) in November 2022. A Vietnamese delegation led by Tran Hong Ha, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment at that time (currently the deputy prime minister of Vietnam), attended the conference.

Egypt has also reaped development achievements across many areas, with many cities having been formed alongside the New Administrative Capital and an extensive network of roads and tunnels having been built.

In addition, Egypt has launched many national initiatives, such as “A Decent Life”, which contributes to improving the quality of public services for the Egyptian people, and Egypt's Future Project, which aims to reclaim and develop 1.5 million acres of land in Egypt.

Egypt has also adopted two national strategies in the field of hydrogen and the electric car industry, and a successful programme regarding renewable energy projects, and electrical interconnection projects with neighbouring countries, in addition to developing international and domestic airports and ports. Also, the Suez Canal Economic Zone SCZONE is adopting an investor-friendly business environment that will be a cornerstone for national development plans.
