Safeguarding the border, strengthening the “People’s Defence Posture”
According to the Tay Ninh Provincial Military Command, in line with the strategic vision of defending the Fatherland from afar and at an early stage, the province has focused on closely monitoring the situation both within and beyond the border, proactively addressing emerging issues, and upholding national sovereignty and border security.
Coordination among various forces has been strengthened, and military and national defence tasks have been implemented in a synchronised manner.
The province has successfully conducted defensive zone exercises and operational drills at the commune and ward levels; prepared the necessary conditions for border demarcation and the placement of border markers; and invested in upgrading border patrol roads, while simultaneously addressing socio-economic development needs.
Along the more than 168-kilometer border which adjoins the Cambodian provinces of Svay Rieng, Prey Veng, and Tboung Khmum, the security and order situation has remained stable. Cooperation between the forces on both sides has become increasingly substantive and effective.
Regular meetings, exchanges, and information-sharing have helped bolster traditional solidarity and friendship, contributing to the development of a border region characterised by peace, stability, cooperation, and progress.
In light of the complex nature of transnational crime and various non-traditional security challenges, Tay Ninh has proactively collaborated with its neighbouring Cambodian provinces to implement comprehensive measures aimed at preventing, combating, and curbing criminal activity.
Neighbouring provinces have coordinated the handover of over 2,300 Vietnamese citizens who violated the law or resided illegally; identified 368 cases involving online fraud; apprehended 14 individuals who were wanted or subject to a search; and collaborated on the verification and handling of five cases involving online fraud and asset appropriation, murder, robbery, and the illegal trafficking and transport of narcotics.
A cooperation agreement between the Tay Ninh Provincial Police and the police departments of Svay Rieng, Prey Veng, and Tboung Khmum provinces provides a foundation for enhanced coordination.
Key areas of focus include the control of entry and exit; combating drug trafficking, human trafficking, arms trafficking, smuggling, money laundering, and high-tech crime; improving the effectiveness of Border Liaison Offices (BLOs); and coordinating responses to non-traditional security challenges and environmental protection efforts.
These cooperative outcomes contribute to maintaining political security, social order, and safety in the border region, safeguarding the peaceful lives of the people, and fostering economic growth, trade, tourism, and cultural exchange, all while strengthening the traditional bonds of solidarity and friendship between Viet Nam and Cambodia.
Strengthening discipline and enhancing the effectiveness of internal affairs
Alongside the protection of sovereignty and border security, Tay Ninh Province has identified the enhancement of internal affairs — including the prevention and combatting of corruption, wastefulness, and negative practices — as a critical requirement for building a clean, robust political system, strengthening public trust, and upholding social order.
For the remainder of 2026, the province will focus on the synchronised execution of tasks related to military affairs, national defence and security, internal affairs, and foreign relations.
This includes ensuring the safety of political events and major holidays, as well as proactively monitoring the situation to address issues at the grassroots level, thereby preventing any unforeseen developments or being caught off guard.
Efforts to prevent and combat various types of crime — especially drug-related offenses and high-tech crimes — are being implemented decisively, in alignment with the goal of making Tay Ninh a drug-free province by 2030.
The province continues to improve the quality of citizen reception, direct dialogue with the public, and grassroots-level mediation. Priority is placed on resolving long-standing, unresolved complaints and denunciations, with the aim of minimising large-scale or escalated grievances.
Judicial reform and judicial support services are being accelerated; efforts are underway to address challenges in forensic expertise and asset valuation, while enhancing the quality of investigations, prosecutions, trials, and the enforcement of judgments.
The Tay Ninh Provincial Police are strengthening internal political security and the protection of state secrets, while enforcing stricter discipline, including protocols regarding public statements and reviewing and refining relevant regulations and official documents within their jurisdiction.
Regarding the prevention and combatting of corruption, wastefulness, and negative practices, the province continues to enhance the operational effectiveness of the Tay Ninh Provincial Steering Committee on the Prevention and Combatting of Corruption, Wastefulness, and Negative Practices. Focus on handling cases and matters assigned to the Central Steering Committee for monitoring and direction.
At the same time, review and address projects and undertakings that are behind schedule, stalled, long-delayed, or underperforming — those posing a risk of loss or waste — while ensuring that all actions comply with regulations and the scope of authority and remaining appropriate to practical circumstances.
Regarding external affairs, the province continues to strengthen cooperation in border management and protection. It effectively carries out the demarcation and placement of border markers, as well as the search for and repatriation of the remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers who fell in Cambodia. Furthermore, the province maintains strict oversight of the movement of people and goods across the border.
At the same time, the province is researching and proposing policies to support individuals who have migrated spontaneously from Cambodia to settle in the province, as well as people of Vietnamese origin currently residing in Cambodia.
Guided by a proactive, disciplined, and highly collaborative approach that addresses issues early and at the grassroots level, Tay Ninh continues to consolidate its “all-people national defence”, “people’s security”, and “posture of the people’s hearts”.
By integrating the protection of security and public order with socio-economic development, the province ensures political stability and a peaceful life for its residents, thereby creating the momentum needed to successfully achieve the goals and tasks of the new phase.
