At the event, Chairman Pham Van Tan of the provincial People’s Committee recalled the historic tradition of more than 300 years since ancestors opened villages in the locality up until now.
To date, the province has developed five industrial zones attracting foreign investment of nearly US$4 billion worth in registered capital and over VND40 trillion (US$1.8 billion) in domestic investment. According to the new standards, the poverty rate currently sits at just 4.3%.
Its Party committee, the local government and people have been awarded with notable Party and State’s orders such as the Gold Star Order and many other honours for their significant achievements.
Speaking at the ceremony, on behalf of the Party and State leaders, Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh praised the contributions of the local Party, government and people to national liberation and reunification, as well as their achievements in recent times for socio-economic development.
180 years of development is Tay Ninh’s proud milestone, Deputy PM Binh said, urging the locality to take action to turn it into a new source of strength, bringing about further strong growth and a more prosperous and happy life for the people.
He asked the locality to make profound assessment of its potentials and comparative advantages compared to other localities for comprehensive solutions to promote socio-economic development. It should maximise advantages as located adjacent to Ho Chi Minh City, having two international border gates, Asian Highway crossing, and favourable conditions for high-tech agricultural development.
At the same time, Tay Ninh should also focus on industrial development, with special attention to processing industries associated with the province's major agricultural products.
Noting that Tay Ninh has a range of remarkable advantages in tourism, with stunning landscapes and countless monuments, such as the special national relic of Central Office for South Vietnam, the headquarters of the National Liberation Front for South Vietnam, Cao Dai Holy See, Ba Den Mountain, Dau Tieng Irrigation Lake, and Lo Go-Xa Mat National Park, Deputy PM Binh suggested the province promote tourism and turn it into a key economic sector for Tay Ninh.
He also asked local authorities to settle issues of social security, poverty reduction, and economic development in line with environmental protection, while ensuring foreign affairs and border security to guarantee rapid and sustainable development.
Earlier the same day, Deputy PM Binh joined Tay Ninh leaders to inaugurate the historic Suoi Sau monument in An Tinh commune, Trang Bang district and the welcome gate of Tay Ninh province at the gateway to Tay Ninh city.
