Ten outstanding young Vietnamese doctors honoured

Ten exemplary young doctors in 2021 were honoured at a ceremony held in Hanoi on March 21 in recognition of their outstanding achievements and contributions to public health and the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

The event was jointly held by the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee, the Vietnam Youth Federation, the Association of Young Doctors, and the Ministry of Health.

This is the tenth time the awards have been held in order to praise young doctors in caring for people’s health, participating in volunteer activities and applying science and technology to healthcare activities.

Secretary of the Party Central Committee (PCC) and Head of the PCC’s Commission for Communication and Education Nguyen Trong Nghia said that the Party, State and people are always grateful for the meaningful and noble contributions of medical workers, especially young doctors, during the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic during the past times.

Each medical worker involved in pandemic prevention and control has become a bright example and model for others to follow, Nghia noted.

Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union and Chairman of the Vietnam Youth Federation Nguyen Ngoc Luong emphasised that the ten outstanding doctors represent the tens of thousands of young doctors who do not mind facing difficulties, even danger to their lives, to care for the health and lives of patients during the pandemic.

Le Thi Lan, a doctor in charge of treating psychiatric patients with COVID-19 at the Central Psychiatric Hospital 2, Le Minh Ngoc from Cardiology Centre under the Hanoi Medical University Hospital, Lo Thi Thanh Hop from the Medical Centre of Nam Po District, Dien Bien Province, and Vu Son Giang from Military Hospital 175 are among the honoured doctors.
