Nam Vi is a difficult mountainous commune of Muong Nhe District, Dien Bien Province, with a poverty rate of more than 60%. The whole commune has 7 villages, 720 households with more than 4,300 people, mainly from H'Mong and Thai ethnic minority groups.

On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory (May 7, 1954 – 2024), a delegation from the Vietnamese Students' Association Central Committee visited, organised a series of exchange activities and presented gifts, school supplies, necessities and food to students at the Nam Vi Primary Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities.
