In recognition of its outstanding achievements over the past five years, the President awarded the Third-Class Fatherland Protection Order to the Political Department of the Tay Ninh Provincial Military Command and to Colonel Tran Chi Cong, Commander of K73 Team, for their exceptional contributions to the search, recovery and identification of fallen soldiers' remains during the 2021–2025 period.
K73 Team was established on November 23, 2000, with the mission of surveying, searching for and repatriating the remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who sacrificed their lives in Cambodia during various wartime periods.
Over the past 25 dry seasons (2001–2026), the team has worked under the close leadership and direction of Tay Ninh Province's Steering Committee 515, the Provincial Military Party Committee and the Provincial Military Command. It has also received strong cooperation from Cambodian authorities and armed forces, as well as valuable assistance from local people.
Through perseverance, determination and a strong sense of responsibility, K73 Team has successfully carried out its mission of locating, recovering and repatriating the remains of fallen soldiers, helping bring national heroes home to rest in their homeland. The team's work has contributed to implementing the Party's and State's policies on gratitude to those who sacrificed for the nation, while strengthening the traditional friendship and solidarity between Viet Nam and Cambodia.
The Chairman of the Tay Ninh Provincial People's Committee also commended the dedication and contributions of K73 Team and its partner units, awarding certificates of merit to 14 collectives and 51 individuals for their outstanding performance in the search, recovery and identification of previously unidentified fallen soldiers' remains during the 2025–2026 period.
