Vice President presents gifts to flood-hit victims in Bac Giang

Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan visited the northern province of Bac Giang on September 13 to inspect the post-storm recovery efforts and present gifts to local people affected by the storm and floods in Vu Xa Commune, Luc Nam District.

The province reported two deaths, seven injures, 18 houses collapsed and more than 3,850 houses damaged. More than 3,200 households were also evacuated.

About 19,300 ha of rice, 2,200 ha of vegetables, 7,000 fruit trees, and 106 ha of annual crops were flooded or destroyed. In addition, 37,000ha of production forests were broken.

Many traffic and irrigation works have been blocked and damaged while a large number of residential areas have been flooded and isolated. As many as 267 schools had to close.

Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan expressed her sympathy for the losses of the local people, hoping that they will soon overcome difficulties to stabilise their lives. She also acknowledged and praised the efforts of the authorities of Bac Giang in helping people overcome the consequences of floods.

She granted 500 million VND to the province to mitigate damages caused by the storm and presented 100 gifts to the storm victims.
