The working trip takes place at a time when political relations and strategic trust between Viet Nam and Laos continue to be consolidated, affirming their core and overall guiding roles in bilateral relationship.
In the past more than 60 years since their establishment of diplomatic relations, Viet Nam and Laos have inherited and upheld their special solidarity. They have agreed to elevate their ties to a new height with strategic cohesion.
Alongside actively promoting existing cooperation mechanisms and maintaining meetings and exchanges between the two party general secretaries as well as between high-ranking party and state leaders, both sides have reviewed and adjusted cooperation mechanisms to better align with their practical realities, focusing on exchanges regarding strategic issues, policies, and guidelines related to security and development.
Thanks to close coordination, many important external activities between high-ranking leaders of the two parties and two states of Vietnam and Laos have taken place very successfully.

In the context when global situation is witnessing rapid developments, both Viet Nam and Laos emphasise their determination to nurture bilateral relations to endure forever.
Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính's working trip to co-chair the 48th session of the Viet Nam–Laos Intergovernmental Committee continues to affirm Viet Nam's strong support for Laos's efforts to develop socio-economic situation and maintain security, peace, and stability, thereby contributing to sustainable development and consolidating the special relationship between the two countries.
At the meeting between the two Politburos of Viet Nam and Laos, the two sides exchanged views on the special relations between the two countries, set out objectives and solutions, and promoted practical cooperation, thereby contributing to further consolidating and strengthening the great friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between Viet Nam and Laos.
Both sides have achieved many important objectives stated in the Viet Nam-Laos Cooperation Strategy for the 2021-2030. Specifically, the implementation of the Agreement on bilateral cooperation between the governments of Viet Nam and Laos has been deployed and achieved practical effectiveness, contributing to consolidating and developing the special, loyal, and rare Viet Nam-Laos relationship in the history of international relations.
Co-chairing the 48th session of the Viet Nam–Laos Intergovernmental Committee, Viet Nam affirms its determination to work with brotherly Laos to effectively implement the high-level agreement approved by the two politburos at their meeting.
At the 48th session of the Viet Nam–Laos Intergovernmental Committee, delegations from the two governments will review and evaluate the implementation of agreements in the Viet Nam-Laos Cooperation Plan for 2021-2025, including progress in 2025.
They will also discuss cooperation directions and tasks for 2026–2030, including those for 2026, to materialise the conclusions of the Viet Nam–Laos Politburos’ Meeting.
Within the framework of the session, the two sides are set to sign a number of key cooperation documents, helping to realise the agreed partnership agenda between the two governments in the time ahead.
